Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart

Of any official in Illinois, I really feel sorry for Sheriff Dart. He has to deal with the Cook County Board, the horrible situation at Burr Oak Cemetery, and incessant violence among young people along with the Chicago city police. It is often heart wrenching to watch the news out of Chicago, and see suffering family members. Over the weekend, his office was busy in Earlville, breaking up an alleged cockfighting operation: http://www.cookcountysheriff.org/press_page/press_Cockfighting_12_21_2009.html.

Although cockfighting is something that people in many countries participated in with their roosters for at least 4,000 years, it is illegal in Illinois. Period. Oh, and it is illegal in the other 49 states, Indonesia, and the UK, too.

Sheesh, this alleged robber really put a different meaning on the phrase, "repeat offender:"

If the Daily Chronicle donates free ad space, including pictures, to advertising lost and found pets, the least the Chicago media can do is help alert the public for missing people, no matter how many are missing.
